Greyhound Racing Victoria’s Ready to Race Sales were held at Bendigo on November 28, and I’ve scanned over the results and here is what I believe to be the best five purchases from this year’s auction in terms of value for money.
Lot #12 – Draculette
Female January 2014 Fear Zafonic x Ren Shen
Nominator: Adam McNamara
Replays:
Ran 2nd in Heat running 24.537 (box 6) WATCH
Ran 2nd in Final running 24.585 (box 1) WATCH
Comment: Sound heat run she faced a smart field in her final, she jumped well but didn’t have the speed of Rose who crossed her at the first turn. She more than held her own in the back half of the race and I think she can win plenty of races and she seemed a bargain buy.
Price Sold: $3,500
Lot #20 – Feeling Blue
Female December 2013 Collison x Express Links
Nominator: R Crawford T O’Donovan Synd
Replays:
Ran 2nd in Heat running 24.686 (box 6) WATCH
Won Final in 24.535 (box 3) WATCH
Comment: She is only tiny but she has dazzling early speed as evidenced by her 6.55 first sectional in her final. Whilst she will struggle running 500 her quickness will hold her in good stead over the sprint trip and she could develop into a high quality short course sprinter in the mould of an Arizona Dozer.
Price Sold: $6,500
Lot #42 – Bernmar Thunder
Male February 2014 Lochinvar Marlow x Rozehill Jess
Nominator: Peter Borradale
Replays:
Ran 2nd in Heat running 24.778 (box 1) WATCH
Ran 3rd in Final running 24.747 (box 7) WATCH
Comment: In both heat and final this guy showed that he is pretty inexperienced. He has terrific straight line speed but just struggled getting around the turn in both runs. He was strong in both runs and I think when the penny drops with him he will be winning plenty of races. At only $1,750 I think he is a ripping buy and I believe he will become the best value buy of the sale
Price Sold: $1,750
Lot #57 – Kimmy
Female January 2014
Nominator: Sharon Wells
Replays:
Won Heat in 24.611 (box 7) WATCH
Ran 2nd in Final running 24.497 (box 6) WATCH
Comment: She was slow to begin in her final settling last of the 4. She weaved through near the rails and finished strongly in a slick last section of 12.79 leader to winner suggesting she will get over further. I think she may turn out to be a nice stayer.
Price Sold: $6,500
Lot #95 – Bernmar Rockstar
Male January 2014 Engine Alley x Bernmar Pauline
Nominator: Borra Two Synd
Replays:
Won Heat in 24.489 (box 2) WATCH
Won Final in 24.198 (box 4) WATCH
Comment: The most expensive purchase of the sale I think he can be the headline act from this year’s auction. His issue is that he can be a little slow away but he is exceptionally strong and it showed is his final and he powered home a flying last section of 12.52 which was easily the fastest of the day. I expect him to get to at least 500m and prove himself city class in time.
Price Sold: $27,500
