Welcome to the 2016 TAB Great Chase Community Event where Victoria’s greyhounds run for local community groups supporting the elderly and the intellectually and physically disabled. It’s a great day out at the races for the groups and the people they care for and an opportunity for their groups to win cash prizes to support their good work.
Since 2003, the annual Great Chase Community Days have raised over $500,000 and provided race day action and excitement for hundreds of community groups and thousands of their clients around Victoria. This year, nearly 100 groups shared in $44,000 in prize money.
The Bendigo Great Chase Community Day
Around 90 people from 10 community groups turned up for Bendigo Greyhound Racing Club’s Great Chase Community Day on Friday 2 September. The groups were:
Amicus Group Inc; Headway Bendigo; ICON (SCOPE); Individual Services Team; Scope Fenton Street; SCOPE Station St House; Scope Weeroona Avenue; Vahland Complex CCU; Vahland Complex SECU; and the Women’s Acquired Brain Injury Support and Activity Group.
Bendigo Headway drew the winning greyhound on the day and its prize money is going towards planning more social events for its members and their carers.
“We had a great time at the Bendigo Great Chase Community Day, met a recently adopted greyhound and it was very good to catch up with other local groups.” – Mary Leversha of Bendigo Headway
