WITH this year’s Ready to Race Auction to take place on Saturday at Bendigo I have scrolled through all the replays of last Sunday’s heats and here I believe are the four best purchases on the program.

Lot #58-Jack
Male. April 2014 Magic Sprite x Wilma’s Entity
Nominator: Maureen Barry
Heat number: 7 (box 3)
Comment: Slow to begin he settled a long way from the leader who split very fast. He gradually made ground in the second part of the race and was strong on the line suggesting he will get over further ground.  WATCH
Estimated price: $3,000-4,000

Lot #76-Obi
Male. January 2014 Dyna Lachlan x No End
Nominator: Jamie Chatterton
Heat number: 15 (box 7)
Comment: He jumped well but couldn’t muster early. Was only two lengths from the lead when severely checked midrace, and as such lost 15 lengths. When balanced in the straight he charged home in a manner suggesting he might have terrific potential. He might be the bargain of this year’s sales.  WATCH
Estimated price: $4,000-$5,000

Lot #24-Magic
Male. April 2014 Magic Sprite x Bella Maldini
Nominator: Aaron Debattista
Heat number: 18 (box 6)
Comment: He was slow to begin settling 3rd at the first corner, and then showed smart race sense weaving through on the inside to quickly dash to the lead. The way he raced away in a last section of 12.78 suggests he will get over further ground too. Being a young pup he should further improve as well.  WATCH
Estimated price: $8,000-10,000

Lot #47-Samantha
Female. March 2014 Barcia Bale x Donna Matrix
Nominator: Mark Strahan
Heat number: 21 (box 5)
Comment: She jumped beautifully and showed nice speed early. She couldn’t match Cleo (who ran the quickest time of the day) in the middle part but held her own in the last section in what was the fastest last split of the day at 12.52. Cleo will probably be the most expensive dog to be auctioned so I believe that Samantha has good upside for a much cheaper buy.  WATCH
Estimated price: $8,000-10,000

Samantha
Samantha showed potential in her heat and could prove a good buy at Saturday’s Auction.
